Is women a burden? It's not just a question. It contains the whole world. Yes, if we say so, we are not incorrect. People have taken women in a very wrong direction now and changed the meaning of the women and their empowerment.
In ancient times…
Women were a disgraced creature before the advent of Islam. They were actually taken as a burden centuries ago. The men used to consider women like shoes of feet. Women were buried down alive. Men used to put them in the fire and never had regarded them as human beings.

Formerly, the birth of a girl in any house was taken as the news of the death and a girl itself granted as a burden. In spite of the fact that the reason for the existence of a man himself depended upon the existence of a woman.
After Islam
But then 1400+ years ago, Islam came and the thinking of mankind took a drastic change. Islam changed the meaning of women for the whole world till Qayamat.
This religion has given women respect, honor and signified her status in society. Both men and women are equally important in status and rights. Islam taught us to be respectful when it comes to women. Islam set some proper rules for them and had given importance to their dignity.
And Now…
Nowadays, we seldom follow the preaching of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.) and have forgotten the exact meaning of women's respect and women empowerment. Today’s women empowerment campaign has changed the real concept and perception behind it. These campaigns have contradicted with the rules of Islam.
Women empowerment campaign is emerging day by day because people have started following the footprints of those who were ignorant and be subjected to the wrath of ALLAH. People started discerning things as same as those of before the emergence of Islam used to think.
Women Empowerment
What I observed from the events going on in this world now that the women are not even ready to respect themselves and also, considered their own selves as a burden. Woman of today has lost the perfect definition of womanhood. As a result, she is trying to become a man and behave like one of them. She called it a women empowerment.
You may take me against the women's empowerment, but I am actually in its favor. Because the real sense of women empowerment was discussed in Islam and now the thing we call women empowerment is actually contrary to that. For this, one should have learned what women empowerment means now, how Islam had defined it and what the difference is.
Women had more worth in the time of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.) and then compare it with the present circumstances. It’s really heart-wrenching and disappointing that we are now more concerned about our Nafs rather than our religious norms and values. We have forgotten that ALLAH is watching us and whatever we do, we are answerable to him.
