My Pick on Halloween
            - Disclaimer: This is solely my own perception and it has nothing to do with anyone -

Every year On 31st October, we used to see some odd pictures on the internet of different celebrities either western or eastern, celebrating a festival named Halloween. Somehow the pictures get viral over the internet on every social media platform and people show how they dressed up for Halloween. Sad but the point to ponder upon is even our Pakistani celebrities have also started celebrating this festival which actually has no meaning or concept in our BELOVED religion ISLAM, in our culture and in our society.

First of all, let's talk about what Halloween is?

The word Halloween is derived from the Christian festival named (halo - All - Eve -when they pray for their departed saints etc.) Halloween is a festival celebrated on 31st October related to some old festival for departed saints "Samhain" and it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to the earth on the same date in the evening. Halloween is considered as a day of the Dead. This is to be noted that this is a very sacred evening for many Satan worshipers. That's why most of the people get themselves dressed like the ghosts, the departed souls, the vampires and all that and try not to eat meat to show some respect to the dead people whose souls haven't reached to the heaven yet (what they think).

The Perception of Halloween in Islam:

There is no concept of this day in Islam. There is no Halloween and once a person dies, He dies. There is nothing to do with his departed souls. A Person who follows the path of ignorance is ignorant himself. One who thinks that he can talk to the dead people this day by doing some kind of worship or prayers then he is actually doing what we usually call a Magic. Our Beloved Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) quoted once: "Whoever imitates a people is one of them"

We, as Muslims, should refrain from following the path of nonbelievers. Muslims are forbidden to follow the festivals of Non- Muslims because their festivals are either based on their false or devilish events. As Muslims, we can pray for the dead people, but it is not specified with any day, date or festival.

Halloween & Pakistan:

Now A time has come, when in Pakistan, we have started losing our identities, our cultural and social norms as well as our religious priorities. We have been influenced by western culture this much that we have forgotten the basic teachings of ISLAM and our HOLY PROPHET (P.B.U.H.).

We try to speak English (yes me too) with everyone, We want our children to learn English better than Urdu, we have started following their dressings and now even the festivals which have no meaning in Islam. We love celebrating these festivals of either west or Hindus. Everyone owns a different identity. But we, as a nation, feel ashamed of being called Pakistani or Muslims even.

I have seen many celebrities having fun, celebrating Halloween Party every year. The Celebrities who publicized themselves to represent Pakistan and indirectly, the Muslims, wear the dresses doing everything that is forbidden in Islam while celebrating this festival called Halloween. No offense to anyone, but this is really heart-wrenching, unfortunately, the bad time and thing to think that where we have led ourselves. We are not representing our culture, our country or our religion by dancing in such Halloween parties dressed up in all naked or whatnot. But Still, if they (Our celebrities) are advised to not indulge themselves in these activities, they raise their favorite slogan "Live, Let Live".

EndNote:

We are not perfect, nobody does. But At Least and Last all, we need to make ourselves a better person. These holi Parties, Halloweens, Christmas, Diwali, etc are not our festivals and we are not being represented by these festivals. Please wake up and watch around.

What we are doing today, will be returned back to us tomorrow but then We can not do anything as the time which has passed doesn't come back to us. We must Proud of Our Identity, Our Country, Our Civilization, Our Religion, and Our language.

Happy Reading!
