Since the start of my education, I always being taught to learn English and focus on its vocabulary and same was my thought that i should emphasize on my English language the most.
When i was given an options to select class sections in school or a language of any subject either in English or Urdu. I had always chosen English. This is pathetic that are minds are over flooded with the perception that speaking, writing or learning English is far much better than speaking, learning or writing Urdu.
Everything has its pros and cons, so it does. If English language is good to learn in a sense for so many reasons like English is an international source of communication(pro).
I used to write more of my stuff in English because whatever i uploaded on internet is only readable by the people who can understand English(pro and con; i should also write my stuff in Urdu as well). A person who speaks English looks more intellectual or more educated (sadly but true)-(pro and con). But it builds a communication gap with our very own people, it takes us away from our roots(con).

Likewise, Urdu is a national language of Pakistan and i do speak Urdu at most of the times, places and never feel ashamed of it(pro). My language is my power through which i can communicate with the people live around me(pro). But still, it can never help to communicate to the globe(con). Sometimes, very good thoughts are coming up to my mind in Urdu but when i need to translate it to English, it takes me few seconds to do that(a very big con).
Other than these language differentiation, vocabulary also does matter while speaking English. I feel that, when you use heavy English vocabulary in your sentences that people have to google, it leaves an impression on people and they consider you highly educated and they feel inferiority complex just because of the reason that they do not use those words. Sometimes i feel the same. But it shouldn't be like that, English is a language just like other languages i-e: Arabic, roman, Spanish, Hindi etc. As we do not bother learning other languages so intensively, why do we want to learn English as much as we can speak it on regular basis.

Anyhow, coming to the vocabulary discussion back, we do use Urdu vocabulary a lot but as much as we use strong words of Urdu vocabulary, people used to think that may be we are not well educated or we belong to an uneducated environment where English is not common. Though, Urdu language is considered as a low-rated, below average language even in it's own country Pakistan. It saddens me sometimes because i feel like until now we are not a free nation as we have demoralized and demolished not only our values but also our language, our roots and our nation.
Always just like i do at the end, i wish and pray that may we all become a better nation, a better person and be always proud of who we are.
