Viruses exist since ages, have affected millions of people, and are becoming the reasons for deaths for many years. Still, we can recover through them. Also, these incidents come to us as a blessing as we become capable of seeing the positive side of the world and the blessings of ALLAH upon us.

Here, we will discuss interesting plus important facts about different viruses.
  • The word Pandemic¹ is derived from the Greek language and considered as a disease epidemic that spreads throughout the world. A pandemic is a type of disease that is contagious and affects a large number of people.
  • There are many deadly viruses² that affected and took many lives with its widespread. For example, Rabies, Hepatitis C, smallpox, dengue, plague (commonly known as Black Death or the Great Plague), Influenza, HIV (AID), and now coronavirus.

Plague

  • The most deadly virus was the Great Plague, caused by the bacterium carried by rats and killed almost 20 million people in the Europe.
  • Black Death virus took away the lives of almost one-third population of the entire continent at that time (in 1346-1353)
  • In 541-750 A.D., the same disease epidemic killed nearly 30-50 million people in the eastern Roman Empire and known as the Plague of Justinian.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)

  • HIV (Human Immunodeficiency virus), aka AID, is undoubtedly considered as the most famous dangerous virus that enters the human body secretly, and kills the person slowly and steadily. However, if treated on time, then there are the chances to cure.
  • HIV (AIDS) killed about 32 million people and affected round-about 7 million people. Still, it can be found in many people. 
  • HIV remains dormant in a human body for many years.

Influenza

  • Influenza – the killer flu perpetually changes its form and nature. For example, Spanish flu in 1918, the Asian flu killed 1.1 million people worldwide in 1957-1958, and the Hong Kong flu; the pandemic disease of 1968-1969, killed an estimated 1 million deaths in the whole world. These are all kinds of Influenza.
  • According to Dr. John Swartzberg, a clinical professor at the University of California once said: “If there is a virus that keeps me up at night, its influenza. I put it at the top of the list from a worldwide standpoint.”
  • Influenza comes every year, so no matter how much horrifying it is, we have gotten used to it.

Ebola

  • Another outbreak of the disease usually causes due to contact with blood, other body fluids, or tissues from infected animals and people.
  • WHO says: "The death rate from Ebola epidemic disease is about 50%, which means that it kills half of the infected people."

Coronavirus

  • Nowadays, the pandemic virus that is spread throughout the world in no time is Coronavirus, and is also considered as the most deadly one. Millions of people are being affected by this epidemic disease, and the number of infected people is still in count.
  • It was first originated from China, and now is traveling to multiple countries like Italy, U.S., Iran, Pakistan, and many others. Thus, this virus is leaving people infected, wherever it is going, and making its path from one person to another with no difficulty.
  • Interestingly, the movie named “Contagion” that was released in 2011 is also on the exact same topic. Strange!!!
  • In Sylvia Browne Book “End of days”, she also talked about some pneumonia-like disease that will spread in 2020 in the entire world, with almost the same symptoms as discussed above. Point-to-ponder!

According to WHO (World Health Organization): "Plenty of diseases kill many people on a yearly basis like dengue infects 4 million people, cholera kills about 100 thousand people, and the people count for typhoid infection is about a lac or so."

How to fight with Viruses:

Viruses grow and reproduce within host cells³. However, viruses are not alive but when they are, they can take lives. To avoid such deadly viruses attack, it is needed to take precautionary measures, as it is a proverb itself: “Precaution is better than cure.”

Fighting with viruses is the trickier task at times, when you are affected, sick and lacking energy. But, again, nothing is impossible in this world. So, if you want to recover, you would do anything, that is being prescribed by the specialist/physician.

As for now, Coronavirus, being a world-wide pandemic, causing major health issues. Symptoms are:

Therefore, it is mandatory to consider the following points as precautionary measures:
  • Your immune system should be strong and active.
  • Diet must be appropriate. For this, add maximum fruits and vegetables in your daily meal.
  • Keep yourself well-hydrated.
  • Wash your hands, use hand sanitizers every now and then.
  • Use masks to cover your face. Also, cover your face with an elbow (and not with hand) while sneezing or coughing.
  • Use tissues and toilet papers to prevent coronavirus to enter your body.
  • Try not to touch your face.
  • Don’t touch any object or surface like the handle of escalators, entry doors, or a button in lift. (Just don’t use hands).
  • Maintain social distancing and avoid gatherings. Stay home and isolated until the virus ends.
  • Avoid travel to other countries, where there is the pandemic virus is spread, and don’t let anyone go out of the place where the disease exists – interpretation of the Hadith-e- Nabwi (S.A.W.W.). By doing so, you will save others, and it will be counted as a Sadqa-e-Jaria (The great charity).

Bottom Line:

Life is unpredictable, so try to spend it by helping others and taking care of yourself. Plus, by maintaining social distancing, you will also protect others from this viral deadly disease.
