We humans are very strange. We assume, we will only get punished for the sins and mistakes which are intense and big. However, we never count the small immoralities we do on a daily basis. Moreover, only thing we think is we are Ashraf-ul-Makhlooqat, so we got a certificate to do anything. Hence, we perceive, whatever we do, we are eligible to enter Jannah (heaven). Isn’t it?
I know it is quite difficult to accept the reality and see yourself in the mirror, but not impossible. Because once you accept it, you would try to apprehend the reasons and rectify yourself.
Pride & You
I have observed that everyone of us, individually, believes that he/she has never done a thing which can lead him/her to hell. For instance, if you ask me, I would say, I have never done any mistake like a balah person did.
See, where I am not accepting my debaucheries, I am also judging others for their sins. No doubt, we usually forget what we do and always remember what others did.
Moreover, sins like hurting someone with words, watching anything wrong, backbiting in chats, and being hypocrite at times wouldn't earn me bad name because, again, whatever I do I am forgivable. I mean, isn’t it hilarious and annoying at times?
This is called pride of being assumed as a perfect human, no matter what religion you follow - the perception is the same for all. Here comes a Hadeesin my mind:
“None shall enter paradise who has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of pride.” – Sahi Muslim
Then why don't we understand that despite of our faith, the tiny feeling of pride can take us to hell.
Alongside this, sometimes, you show your bad side to the people by doing harm to them without even thinking twice. As you forget that you are hurting them, the only thing stays in mind is that you need to do it for your own happiness and welfare. There, pride gets united with selfishness, ruining your Akhirah.
Perfection, Mistakes & Repentance
I agree, that no one is perfect. We humans, have a great margin of repeating mistakes over and over again.
Still, we think that we are perfect and everyone else is doing everything wrong. Admitting mistakes and repenting later for them is another thing.
But, if you make the same mistake every other time and make it a habit to ask forgiveness from ALLAH, then be honest in answering me. Will ALLAH forgive you every time???? Of course, He will.
Undeniably, He is a best of forgivers and forgives HIS men plenty of times. But, He also knows the intention of His people. Mentioning another eye-opening Hadees for a clearer message:
“Actions are based on intention.”
So, when you intend to achieve goals by disobeying the Lord, you actually deny his orders.
What Quran Says About Denial & Repentance?
In Quran, ALLAH says (abstract): the previous nations got killed because of their continuous denial in accepting the existence of only one GOD and refusal of orders. Also, He says, that people who didn't repent and do as He said, was later punished with horrible endings.
Being an umati of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.), ALLAH has given us a mohlat(time) to repent and He has promised not to send His wrath until Qayamat (end of times) occurs.
That's why we have taken everything granted and forgotten the teachings of ALLAH and His Prophet (S.A.W.W.). Additionally, we have gotten indulged into things which are forbidden. The sins, for which older nations got punished and ALLAH made them a ibrat for the rest, have become the part of our lives, too.
Just think only once, at the end of this world, we may get punished for the same sins (like the old deprived nations did) and even worst would be our case only because we had been blessed with a chance and we didn’t take advantage of it.
Mixed Advices:
Everyone does make mistakes, but repetition can make our condition worse.
Quoting one more Hadees-e-Nabwi (S.A.W.W.):
“It is obligatory for you to tell the truth, for truth leads to virtue and virtue leads to Paradise, and the man who continues to speak the truth and endeavors to tell the truth is eventually recorded as truthful with Allah, and beware of telling of a lie for telling of a lie leads to obscenity and obscenity leads to Hell-Fire, and the person who keeps telling lies and endeavors to tell a lie is recorded as a liar with Allah. So choose you living, observe and evaluate the number of Sins you did. Think and then repent. Make sure the repentance is Long lasting.”
It means, when you do wrong, you are remembered as an evil person in front of ALLAH and if you are pious, then ALLAH ALMIGHTY recalls you with love.
So, speak the truth, do right and work for others' happiness instead of thinking about your own joy and prosperity.
It doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice your dreams and desires. But, a longings achieved by hurting others are temporary.
As it is said:
“To follow your dreams is not a bad thing. But, following a wrong path and disrespecting others (and even yourself) to fulfill your dream, is.” – Heal With Words
Make sure you have not hurt anyone. If so, apologize to make things better.
May ALLAH forgive us all. Ameen
